Kavita Shah.

Kavita breathes stories and is a passionate professional storyteller. She facilitates storytelling experiences for children and adults utilising various storytelling techniques and art therapies methods.

She likes to work with children – and their parents and teachers – to help all involved gain insights into different aspects of storytelling.

Kavita likes to enable young people to have visions and goals, and to increasingly develop life skills, especially those involving empathy, resilience, reflection, personal growth, and transformation.

Kavita has excellent communication and instructional skills. Her lively storytelling performances using different storytelling styles keep people of all ages spell-bound. Her repertoire of stories includes a wide range of Indian and other Asian folktales, European fairytales, Personal and Family stories, True-life incidents, and modern stories from numerous cultures.

Storytelling spaces for these programs include schools, cultural associations, NGO's, social clubs, libraries, museums, Art and Literature festivals, community centres, and birthday and other private social parties and get-togethers. On Independence Day, 2023, she told stories for 400 students (Stds 1 to 8) at a government school in Ahmedabad.

Kavita's storytelling workshops are highly interactive and are based on various storytelling ideas and styles, with art-integrated-in-education and therapy activities. These workshops have proven to be effective for varied groups and ages.

3) Tripat Rathra.

Tripat Ratra is a storyteller and the founder of Thinking Hearts, a storytelling initiative based in Ahmedabad. With a background of nearly a decade in banking and insurance, she found her calling in working with children and began her storytelling journey eight years ago. Through Thinking Hearts, she uses stories from different cultures as a medium for children to listen, imagine, question and express themselves, often bringing together conversation, music, art, improvisation and hands-on activities. Her approach focuses on making storytelling an experience rather than simply a listening activity.

She is certified in Foundation of Oral Storytelling by FEAST and has completed Kathalaya’s Beginner’s Storytelling Course, while pursuing its Diploma programme. She has also undergone mentorship in STEAM Storytelling with Barry Stewart Mann (USA) and is currently undergoing Mentorship for Storytelling to Adults with Jeeva Raghunathan. She has developed and facilitated five editions of her signature Heartlore workshops, taking children beyond listening into role-play, puppetry, storyboarding, story seeds and creative journaling.

Her storytelling work includes global and Indian folktales, literary adaptations, thematic storytelling and story-based explorations using music, art, props, puppetry and improvisation. She has worked with schools, literary festivals, NGOs, publishers and community spaces, conducting bilingual story sessions, literature and storytelling workshops, expert sessions and seasonal and thematic programmes. Her work is guided by the belief that stories can help children develop curiosity, reflection, confidence and emotional awareness – “Raising EQs, one story at a time.”

Storytelling-related services offered include: Interactive storytelling sessions and workshops for children; thematic, cultural and folktale-based programmes; school and literature-festival sessions; story-and-art experiences; storytelling integrated with music, puppetry, role-play and creative activities; literary adaptations and customised storytelling programmes for schools, organisations, NGOs, libraries and community events.
