Veena Parveen Hasan.

Mrs Veena Parveen Hasan started her journey as a Montessori teacher at Maria’s Public School in Guwahati in 1994.  She moved to the Primary Wing and eventually became the coordinator of Middle School.

 

Her creative zeal impacted not only her peers in the English Department of the Primary Wing but also other faculty members through Round Square exercises and participation in British Council sponsored educative and motivational activities.  She was instrumental in awakening the love for the English language in children through storytelling, dramatisation, and role-play.  She was one of the selected teachers who guided children to enhance their English skills for a program from Trinity School of London.

 

She was a first class in the North East awardee in a Montessori Diploma course from Sister Margaret Day (Kolkata), has attended several national and international education conferences.

 

She is the storytelling mentor of Creative Writing Modern Age.  She has curated and conducted several storytelling programmes online.  She has been invited as a guest speaker and chief guest in a number of storytelling-related national and international webinars. 

 

In 2022 in Mumbai she was acknowledged as a Woman Achiever by Certified Wealth Managers' Association (CWMA) as an educator and storyteller. 

 

She has a Youtube channel titled “Storytelling with Veena” where she narrates stories of various genres such as fables and other folk tales, legends, fictional moral-based and inspirational stories, and real life stories from across the globe.  She tells stories to adults to inspire them to follow their passions.

 

As an International Storyteller, she is a member of Kathashtakam Global, Australian Storytellers, and Federation of Asian Storytellers (FEAST).  She has narrated stories in Chennai Storytelling Festival for adults and children.  She is a certified storytelling teacher under the guidance of renowned storyteller and story coach David Heathfield from UK.  She is presently working in the “Tell a Child in Gaza’s Tale” project in which she retells stories told by children of Gaza.  She shares stories using the Japanese traditional art form Kamishibai.

 

She has narrated stories in UK’s No 1 Global Talk show, “Talking Stories”, hosted by the Father of Storytelling Tony Cranston from the UK. 

 

Recently, she was awarded by the Byatikram group in association with the Times of India in Guwahati, for her outstanding contribution to storytelling and child development.  She leads storytelling classes for children from 6 years to 12 years online.

 

Her involvement with children has always gone beyond the boundaries of the classroom.  Presently, she is an educational consultant and a passionate storyteller.  Her mission is to spread the magic of stories and encourage storytelling.
