Umayal Subramaniam. Umayal Subramaniam, an
early childhood educator, runs a playschool named “Squirrels” in Thanjavur. A
poet and micro-tale blogger, her love for storytelling blossomed in 2009 when
she began read-aloud sessions for her playschool children. This passion
deepened in 2021 when she participated in a five-day international webinar
titled, “Storytelling: An Art in Teaching and Learning.” She plays a pivotal role
as a core team member of “Spectrum”, an awareness project where she
frequently brainstorms about support systems for children with autism.
Additionally, as a volunteer with “Inclusive Duniya”, she visits schools in
and around Thanjavur to narrate stories that advocate for inclusivity. Umayal delights in telling
stories to children aged 2 to 8, drawn by their uninhibited perspectives and
eagerness to listen. With a strong belief in the transformative power of
storytelling, she integrates traditional values from the Indian Knowledge
systems into her narratives, aspiring to influence mindsets positively. She
has authored and published a poetry book, Doodle
With Words: Sketches Of Life. A photo is here. Contact Email: umayal29@gmail.com a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a
